27/01/2025

Overview

At Colaiste Pobail Bheanntrai, a Cork ETB school, Second-Year students participated in a Bullying Awareness programme delivered through Skilly. For the school’s experienced SPHE teachers, this initiative marked a significant step forward in providing wellbeing programmes and supplementing textbooks with an interactive, self-reflective, engaging digital platform.

The program achieved remarkable results, fostering trust, respect, and cohesion among the students and creating a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom.

Challenge

Teaching imperative, complex, and sensitive topics like bullying requires more than just information delivery. Traditional SPHE textbooks often lack the tools for personalised self-reflection or sustained behavioural tracking, making it harder for students to internalise lessons.

The challenge for Coláiste Phobail Bheanntrai was to:

1. Engage students in a meaningful and modern way.

2. Promote a deeper understanding of the impact of bullying

3. Foster a classroom culture of belonging and inclusivity with reflection.

Solution

Innovative Approach: The Team turned to Skilly, leveraging its engaging and interactive feedback tools to transform the Bullying awareness programme.

Bite-Sized Modules: Students worked through lessons at their own pace, reflecting on their behaviour and understanding of bullying.

Personalised Feedback: Skilly empowered students with actionable insights tailored to their reflections.

Real-Time Dynamics Tracking: Teachers used Skilly to monitor classroom mood and identify positive behavioural trends, allowing them to guide the group more effectively.
