Donegal ETB’s Tory Island School Introduces Skilly Across Junior and Senior Cycle
18/11/2025
Donegal ETB’s school on Tory Island, led by Principal Patrick Queenan, is improving its learning experience by introducing Skilly’s innovative self-reflective learning platform across both Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle. As a small but close-knit island school community, this implementation will help students develop the core soft skills they need as they prepare for adult life.
Skilly allows students to reflect on their learning, monitor their personal development, and build key life skills such as communication, self-management, and resilience. By incorporating this digital tool into daily lessons, the school aims to help students better understand themselves and take charge of their growth.
Principal Patrick Queenan said:
“In a small school community like ours, every student counts. Skilly gives our young people a meaningful way to reflect, grow, and build the essential skills they’ll rely on long after they leave school. It strengthens the work we already do and helps our students prepare confidently for their future.”
This initiative underlines Donegal ETB’s dedication to delivering high-quality, holistic education, ensuring that students on Tory Island have access to the same innovative supports as their peers nationwide.
