When a student submits a reflection, Skilly's AI evaluates it against a 5-level rubric (Beginner → Expert) looking at personal depth, critical thinking, and self-awareness. It generates warm, formative feedback in 75–100 words. The teacher always has the final say — they can override any score with one click.

Students see the effective score — which is the teacher's override if one has been set, or the skill score otherwise. They never see the raw skill score when a teacher has overridden it. Skill feedback never mentions the score number or level name directly.

Yes. Teachers can upload and store their own links, files, and resources alongside any lesson in the curriculum library. If your department already has worksheets, videos, or external links you use, you can attach them to the relevant learning outcomes so everything lives in one place.

Every reflection is scanned for indicators across 7 categories: bullying, self-harm, abuse disclosure, anxiety, low mood, peer pressure, and general wellbeing concerns. High-severity concerns email the safeguarding team (coordinator, admins and the pupil's class teacher) straight away, with an escalation chase if unacknowledged; lower-severity ones are logged in the coordinator's queue for same-day review. Every flag is tracked with an action log for your safeguarding records. A human always decides what happens next — Skilly never contacts a pupil or parent itself.

Skilly is not a live monitoring tool — staff are never expected to be online outside working hours. The reflection is always saved and AI-scanned immediately, but each school sets its own hours and chooses what happens out of hours: alerts can page the team straight away, or queue to the next school morning (with the flag waiting at the top of the queue). Either way, at the point of submission the student is shown a calm 'you could contact' panel — a trusted adult first, then Childline (1800 66 66 66), 50808 Crisis Text Line, Samaritans (116 123) and Pieta (1800 247 247) — and an honest note that a teacher may not see this until school reopens, so they're never left waiting. A clear disclaimer reminds students that Skilly is a school learning tool, not an emergency service. We recommend schools reference Skilly in their Acceptable Use Policy and Child Safeguarding Statement — we provide template wording during onboarding.

Yes. Every school gets its own isolated data environment with row-level security. Student data is never shared across schools. AI calls use zero-retention headers, and PII is redacted before any AI processing. We provide full data export and erasure flows, plus a downloadable Data Processing Agreement.

All data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) on EU servers. No student data leaves the EU. We do not sell or share data with any third party. AI calls go through Anthropic's API with zero-retention headers enabled.

Setup and training come as a small one-time launch fee. We handle the environment configuration, user upload and class assignment so you don't have to, and run a training session for your SPHE team and coordinator so everyone is confident from day one. Most schools are fully live within a single morning.

The licence is annual and renewed each year. Student data is stored throughout their school cycle — so a 1st Year student's reflections, scores, and progress carry with them all the way through to 3rd Year (or 6th Year). When a student leaves, their data can be exported or erased under GDPR.

Yes. Skilly qualifies as a digital learning resource under the Department of Education's free schoolbooks and classroom resources scheme. Many schools fund their licence this way. We can provide an invoice formatted for your BOM if needed.

Absolutely. Skilly is designed to work in shared computer rooms as well as 1-to-1 setups. It can be funded through DEIS grants, the School Completion Programme, or the Book Scheme. The structured SPHE delivery, safeguarding alerts, and wellbeing data support your DEIS Action Plan and give you ready-made evidence for WSE inspections and SSE.
